NYLSOOG BOSVELD LANDGOED

THE GREEN DIAMOND…..

Green lifestyle living in the foothills of the Waterberg

A green lifestyle means that  we take responsibility for the way we live. We do not blame local government or the utilities if our water is polluted or the electricity supply is unpredictable --- we look for “off-grid” solutions to secure our energy supply; we seek ways of securing our water.

What is green living? This style of living comes about naturally when we have a mind shift --- when we realize what pollution of the air and water sources may hold for us in the future, and how the destruction of the environment will affect our daily lives.

Green living means that we feel that we are soul mates of the environment that we inherited and live in, and that we change our habits when we realize the devastating impact that industrial and medical waste, mining, pesticides, inorganic sanitation, deforestation, climate change, etc. are having on it.

For those who respect and love our environment, for those who desire to live in a corner of Africa where a green way of life is the ideal of everybody there, we offer an environmentally friendly estate in the Waterberg region. Here you will enjoy high quality water, independent energy sources, wireless communication, the best affordable security systems, traditional values, modern technology, and a profound sense of civilized society and neighbourly respect. The farms bought are now known collectively as Nylsoog Bosveld Landgoed, where a green lifestyle society is being developed on a wildlife sanctuary close to Pretoria and Johannesburg.

Such a gem in the Waterberg region deserves a green lifestyle.

Eugene Marais was one of many famous South Africans who followed a personal road to the Waterberg to find new meaning in life. He expressed these sentiments in his poem Home:

  I know the place

Just where the river starts to race

And where within the murmur of the gorge

The old-time hunters built their forge ---

 Peace to their souls!

 There let me sleep

Where all the wild things peer and peep

 With silent footfalls

 Round my cairn of stone.

Nylsoog Bosveld Landgoed lies between Modimolle (Nylstroom) and Bela-Bela (Warmbaths). Here you will find the landscapes that French explorer W.L. Distant described in 1890: the woods, the park-like tracts and undulating countryside, with views of tall, wooded and isolated hills, and mountain ranges with forested slopes as far as the eye can see.

The pristine valleys and wetlands that characterize Nylsoog Bosveld estate are being conserved. Owing to the sensitive environment and rugged mountainous nature of the estate, the residential portions and lodges are carefully placed to allow a green lifestyle, and strict guidelines are adhered to for the privilege of having a dwelling in this place of natural beauty. Nature first! Architectural guidelines in essence say :Don’t show off, camouflage! External blends with nature. Protect the horizon --- don’t break it with high roofs or pollute it with bright lights, inappropriate colours or structures. Respect the rights of nature and your neighbours.
